Floor Statements

Mr. Speaker, I rise today in recognition of National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day to thank the great law enforcement heroes who put their life on the line every day for the people of Wisconsin's Eighth Congressional District.

We are blessed to have so many great police departments within our district, as well as 11 fantastic sheriffs that have worked tirelessly for us every single day. I would like to give a special shout-out to each of our sheriffs:

Brown County Sheriff Todd Delain; Outagamie County Sheriff Clint C. Kriewaldt; Oconto County Sheriff Todd Skarban; Waupaca County Sheriff Tim Wilz; Door County Sheriff Tammy Sternard; Kewaunee County Sheriff Matt Joski; Shawano County Sheriff George Lenzner; Marinette County Sheriff Randy Miller; Calumet County Sheriff Brett Bowe; Menominee County Sheriff Rebecca Smith; Winnebago County Sheriff John Matz.

Mr. Speaker, I thank them all for what they do for the people of northeast Wisconsin on this National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day and every day. Let us all remember to thank a law enforcement officer for keeping us safe.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize Shawano County Sheriff's Deputy Chase Mason, who went out of his way to help a local kid in our district while on duty.

Last month, a local boy called 911 for a very important reason: to ask for assistance with his math homework. The child told the dispatcher that his family wasn't very good at math either and needed help.

Deputy Chase Mason went above and beyond to respond to the call while he himself admitted he wasn't overly proficient in math. Ultimately, Deputy Mason and the kid were able to work together to solve the problem.

Deputy Mason's assistance to this local boy shows us just how much our law enforcement cares for their community and how lucky we are to have them.

Wisconsin's Eighth Congressional District is home to some of the greatest law enforcement officers in the country, and I am proud to stand with them.

Mr. Speaker, I thank Sheriff's Deputy Mason for going out of his way and for his service to Shawano County.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize and congratulate my high school alma mater, Notre Dame Academy in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Last month, for just the third time in our school's history, the Notre Dame Tritons football team won the Division 3 High School State championship.

The Tritons used the State championship to cap off a perfect season with a 49-28 win over Catholic Memorial.

A special shout-out to their coach, Mike Rader, on an incredible season.

I also will give a special shout-out to senior running back, Christian Collins, who rushed for a record breaking 408 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Mr. Speaker, we are all very proud of the Tritons and look forward to their future success. I congratulate them again.

Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague from Wisconsin, the Republican Dean of the delegation, Congressman Glenn Grothman, for yielding.

I will start by expressing my deepest gratitude to my wife of 24 years, Angela, and also to my four boys and my mom and dad.

Family is everything to me, and all of you have made this journey so much fun and special. I also thank my constituents for placing their trust in me. It is a privilege to serve you and an honor of a lifetime.

Our country faces a lot of difficult challenges: record-high inflation, a border crisis, and increasing crime rates in our neighborhoods, to name only a few.

Now is the time to bring some Wisconsin common sense to Washington to lower costs, secure our border, and rein in out-of-control government spending.

I ran for Congress to solve America's toughest problems, and I pledge to work with my congressional colleagues to lower prices for northeast Wisconsin's middle-class families, small businesses, and farmers by putting more money back in their pockets.

Mr. Speaker, I am excited to get to work.
