The findings must be reported to the Senate and House Veterans’ Affairs committees within one year.

Key Provisions

  • The Comptroller General must conduct a comprehensive assessment of VA suicide‑prevention coordinators’ responsibilities, workload, training, and vacancy rates.
  • The assessment must determine how staffing and use of coordinators differ across VA facilities and how much oversight the Secretary provides.
  • A report with the assessment results must be submitted to the Senate and House Veterans’ Affairs committees no later than one year after the law takes effect.
