CASH Act of 2020

Introduced December 24, 2020

AI-Generated Summary

Updated April 14, 2026 at 4:24 PM UTC

The CASH Act of 2020 would raise the amount of the 2020 recovery rebate (the economic impact payment) that individuals receive. Instead of the $600 payment currently set by the COVID‑related Tax Relief Act, eligible taxpayers would get $2,000 each, and married couples filing jointly would receive $4,000. The change applies only if the earlier COVID‑related Tax Relief Act is in force and affects all individual taxpayers who would claim the rebate.

Key Provisions

  • Amends the tax code to replace the $600 individual rebate amount with $2,000, and the $1,200 joint‑filers amount with $4,000.
  • The increase takes effect only if the COVID‑related Tax Relief Act of 2020 is enacted.
  • Specifies that the bill’s budgetary impact will not be recorded on PAYGO scorecards.
