Updated October 9, 2026 at 3:41 AM UTC

This bill lets the Secretary of the Army give a piece of land at Fort Bragg to North Carolina so the state can build a veterans’ home there. The land is about 20 acres and will stay in the state’s hands as long as it’s used for that purpose. If the land isn’t used for a veterans’ home, it can be taken back by the federal government.

Key Provisions

  • The Army Secretary may transfer the roughly 20‑acre parcel at Fort Bragg to North Carolina at no cost, but the state must pay any conveyance expenses.
  • North Carolina must use the land to construct and operate a veterans’ State home under its Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.
  • If the land is not used for a State home, the Secretary can reclaim it and the U.S. can enter the property immediately.
  • The Secretary may add other conditions needed to protect U.S. interests.
