Introduced January 13, 2025

AI-Generated Summary

Updated November 24, 2025 at 3:38 AM UTC

The Make Greenland Great Again Act authorizes the President to open negotiations with the Kingdom of Denmark to purchase Greenland. It sets a start date for those talks, mandates rapid reporting of any deal to the relevant congressional committees, and provides a 60‑day review period for Congress before the agreement takes effect. The bill would affect U.S. foreign policy and the territorial status of Greenland, a Danish autonomous region.

Key Provisions

  • Allows the President, starting at 12:01 p.m. EST on Jan. 20, 2025, to begin negotiations with Denmark to acquire Greenland for the United States.
  • Requires the President to send any agreement reached, plus all related documents, to the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the Senate Foreign Relations Committee within five days of the agreement.
  • Gives Congress a 60‑day window to review the agreement; if Congress does not pass a joint resolution disapproving it within that time, the agreement automatically becomes law.
