Mr. Speaker, I rise today with profound respect and gratitude to recognize the extraordinary service and unwavering dedication of Sergeant First Class Leidlein, a proud veteran of the United States Army and our distinguished Veteran of the Month for May 2025 from Michigan's 9th Congressional District. His exceptional military career and steadfast commitment to innovation, leadership, and mentorship embody the very best of American service.

Sergeant First Class Leidlein answered the call to serve his country on September 5, 1991, when he enlisted in the United States Army. Over a remarkable twenty-year career, he rose to the rank of Sergeant First Class, serving in diverse and demanding environments across the globe. After completing his initial training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, he was assigned to the 4th of the 11th Field Artillery at Fort Richardson, Alaska, where he excelled in missions from the icy glaciers of Whittier to international operations in Thailand and training exercises in California's Mojave Desert.

Throughout his distinguished service, Sergeant First Class Leidlein earned numerous awards, including multiple Army Achievement Medals and Army Commendation Medals, in recognition of his leadership, technical expertise, and operational excellence. His assignments included critical modernization work at Fort Knox, leadership roles at Fort Drum with the 10th Mountain Division, and recruitment duties where he was recognized as a top recruiter in the Great Lakes Battalion. His innovations in integrating advanced battlefield

technologies helped propel the Army into a new era of digital warfare.

Sergeant First Class Leidlein's service also included several combat deployments. He led and trained soldiers during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, supporting critical security and nation- building missions that included facilitating Afghanistan's first national election. Later, he served with distinction in Iraq, embedding with the 5th Iraqi Brigade near Baqubah, and returned to Afghanistan to advance stability operations in some of the nation's most challenging provinces. For his valor and meritorious service, he was awarded two Bronze Stars, a Meritorious Service Medal, a NATO Medal, and a Presidential Unit Citation.

Following his retirement in September 2011, Sergeant First Class Leidlein left behind a legacy of courage, innovation, and selfless leadership. He mentored thousands of soldiers and cadets, contributed to groundbreaking Army modernization efforts, and helped shape the future of America's defense forces. His journey from the glaciers of Alaska to the deserts of Iraq reflects a career built on resilience, integrity, and an unyielding devotion to duty.

Mr. Speaker, let us express our sincerest appreciation to Sergeant First Class Leidlein for his outstanding military service and for his enduring contributions to our Nation's strength and security. His story is a testament to the American spirit of service, sacrifice, and excellence, and it is an honor to recognize him as our Veteran of the Month.

Mr. Speaker, I rise in support of H.J. Res. 88, but I will clarify one thing for my colleague on the other side of the aisle and add a little bit more color or correct the truth with the other half of the truth. That is, yes, Trump is trying to claw back some money for the infrastructure of building these charging stations. Why is that?

It is because the Biden administration gave them approximately $1 billion to build charging stations. Let's see. I think they built less than 10. I don't know about other Members, but I don't think that is a real good use of taxpayer money, so I am in support of clawing some of that money back. I thank President Trump.

Mr. Speaker, moving on to the resolution, this resolution offered by my good friend from Pennsylvania (Mr. Joyce) would reverse a waiver granted by the Biden EPA that allows States to ban the sale of gas- powered vehicles. This EPA rule has legitimate constitutional questions and would increase costs for Americans and manufacturers.

Americans deserve to choose the car of their choice. In fact, Biden used liberal California to force a one-size-fits-all solution nationwide. One State should never dictate national policy because I can assure my colleagues that what works in California sure doesn't work for the people of my great State of Michigan.

In fact, this policy only hurts Michigan auto manufacturing jobs, threatening to kill 37,000 jobs in my State of Michigan. I am not for that.

This is yet another example of House Republicans righting the wrongs and failings of the previous administration. We are keeping our promises to the American people to restore common sense, roll back burdensome regulations, and lower prices.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today with profound respect and gratitude to recognize the exceptional service and unwavering dedication of Robert Anthony Longo, a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and our esteemed Veteran of the Month for April 2025 from Michigan's 9th Congressional District. His lifelong commitment to duty, both in uniform and beyond, exemplifies the highest ideals of service, sacrifice, and community.

Robert Longo answered the call to serve his country in July 1968, enlisting in the United States Air Force at the height of the Vietnam War. Over the next four years, he attained the rank of Buck Sergeant and was assigned to the Military Airlift Command (MAC) in New Jersey, where he served as a crew chief and aircraft mechanic on the C-141 Starlifter. His critical role ensured the operational readiness of military transport aircraft, supporting strategic global airlift operations that spanned four continents and 20 countries. Longo's expertise took him through advanced training at Edwards Air Force Base and flight school in Washington, D.C., further strengthening his contributions to the Air Force's mission.

After completing his military service in April 1972, Longo continued his lifelong commitment to helping others, particularly his fellow veterans. For the past six years, he has served as a chaplain, providing spiritual guidance and emotional support to those who have sacrificed for our nation. Today, he serves as Chaplain for People of Impact at Freedom Lake in Lapeer, Michigan, a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting veterans with transitional housing, job placement, and recovery support. He also serves as Chaplain for the Lakepoint Church Veterans Ministry, which further exemplifies his devotion to uplifting and strengthening the veteran community.

Beyond his professional and military service, Robert Longo is a devoted family man. He and his wife, Cindy, have shared 38 years of marriage, raising triplets--one son and two daughters--who are now 33 years old. He is also a proud grandfather to two grandchildren, instilling in them the same values of dedication and service that have guided his own life.

Robert Anthony Longo's story is one of duty, perseverance, and selfless service. His contributions to the United States Air Force and his continued efforts to support veterans in need reflect the very best of our Nation's values. His legacy of service is an inspiration to all who know him.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize an outstanding young leader in our community, Kacee Gray, who has been named the Cass City Junior Citizen of the Year for 2025. Kacee exemplifies the values of hard work, dedication, and service, making a profound and lasting impact on Cass City and beyond.

A soon-to-be graduate, Kacee plans to attend Alma College to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Business, with the goal of becoming an insurance agent. Her academic excellence is evident through numerous honors, including being a Red Hawk Rockstar, a consistent presence on the honor roll, and earning academic recognition in subjects like English, Spanish, and Physics.

Beyond her academic achievements, Kacee has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to service. She has dedicated her time to uplifting those around her through extensive volunteer work, including serving at Revive Common Grounds, assisting with local blood drives, supporting VFW spaghetti dinners, and bringing holiday joy to children through Christmas for Kids. She has played an integral role

in school events, from setting up classrooms to managing concession stands and coordinating prom preparations. Her tireless efforts reflect a deep-rooted dedication to bettering her community and serving others.

Kacee is also an accomplished athlete, excelling in volleyball, basketball, softball, and track. She has earned multiple accolades, including All-Conference First Team, All-Region Outside Hitter, and All-State Honorable Mention. Her leadership extends beyond the court-- serving as President of Student Council, Treasurer of the National Honor Society, and a dedicated member of various extracurricular organizations, always striving to lead with compassion and integrity.

What sets Kacee apart is her unwavering commitment to lifting others up. Whether stepping outside her comfort zone to sing the National Anthem at sporting events or leading by example in her community, she embodies the spirit of service and resilience.

Mr. Speaker, it is an honor to recognize Kacee Gray for her remarkable achievements and dedication to service. She represents the very best of Cass City's next generation of leaders, and I have no doubt that she will continue to make a meaningful impact wherever she goes.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today to honor a man whose lifetime of service and dedication to Cass City has left an indelible mark on our community. It is with great admiration that I recognize James E. Baker, II, as the 2025 Cass City Citizen of the Year.

Born and raised in Cass City, Jim Baker has lived a life defined by generosity, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to others. A proud graduate of Cass City High School and Michigan Technological University, he has built a successful career as the owner and president of Jebco Consulting, where his expertise in electro-mechanical engineering has been widely respected. Yet, despite his professional success, his true legacy is his dedication to serving his community.

Jim's contributions to Cass City are immeasurable. As a mentor in the Boy Scouts, he has guided generations of young men toward the rank of Eagle Scout, instilling in them values of discipline, responsibility, and service. His impact extends beyond Scouting, as he has dedicated countless hours to coaching youth athletics, shaping the lives of young athletes in Little League Baseball, high school football, and the Cass City Youth Football initiative. His belief in the power of mentorship has left a lasting impression on the young people he has supported and inspired.

Beyond coaching and mentorship, Jim has worked tirelessly to strengthen his community. He has been a dedicated member of the Rotary Club, an advocate for educational initiatives, and a key organizer in numerous fundraising efforts that have uplifted Cass City. Even in the face of personal health challenges, undergoing both a liver and kidney transplant, Jim has remained steadfast in his commitment to serving others. The overwhelming support he received during his health battles was a testament to the lives he has touched though his generosity and kindness.

Mr. Speaker, James Baker is more than a community leader--he is a pillar of Cass City, embodying the very best of selfless service, mentorship, and resilience. It is my great privilege to recognize him as the Cass City Citizen of the Year. His legacy of service will continue to inspire and strengthen our community for generations to come.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize an exceptional group of young students who have worked with my staff and me to better their civic engagement and understanding of the federal government. This year's Congressional Youth Council consists of some of the brightest and most dedicated young minds from throughout the Thumb of Michigan.

These young leaders have remained committed to regular meetings, coming together to immerse themselves in the legislative process on a non-partisan, academic basis. Throughout their time in the program, these students have studied legislation, prepared mock bills, and worked to better understand critical issues that impact their communities and countless families across the country. It is incredible how in-depth and thorough their work has been. This determined group of students has demonstrated an incredible wealth of knowledge of our democratic system, its key challenges, and what is to come in the future.

Mr. Speaker, as policymakers, we would be wise to take notes from this generation of promising young leaders. I ask all my colleagues to join me in commending Michigan's Ninth District Congressional Youth Council for their outstanding performance this year. These students, along with their families and those in their lives who support them, should be incredibly proud of the work they have done.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today to honor the exceptional achievements of the Clarkston High School wrestling team and their dedicated coaching staff during the 2024-2025 season. Their unwavering commitment, discipline, and perseverance have brought immense pride to their school and community, both on and off the mat.

This season, the Clarkston Wolves continued their tradition of excellence, securing their 18th consecutive District Championship and capturing their first Regional Championship since 2021. Their remarkable determination propelled them to the State Semifinals for the first time since 2007--an extraordinary milestone in the program's history.

Beyond their dominance in competition, these student-athletes demonstrated the same level of excellence in the classroom, earning recognition as an Academic All-State Team--a testament to their hard work and dedication both as wrestlers and as scholars.

Individually, the Wolves had an impressive presence at the state tournament, with nine wrestlers qualifying, six earning a place on the podium, one claiming a State Championship title, and another finishing as a State Runner-Up. These outstanding accomplishments reflect their relentless drive, skill, and sportsmanship.

At the heart of this success is Head Coach Brian Gibbs, whose leadership and passion for the sport have shaped Clarkston wrestling into a powerhouse program. His impact on these student-athletes was recognized with the Regional Coach of the Year award and the prestigious Michigan Division 1 Coach of the Year honor--achievements that underscore his dedication to fostering a winning culture built on hard work, respect, and perseverance.

This program's success is also a testament to the collective effort of 55 student-athletes and seven devoted coaches, each playing a vital role in this historic season.

Mr. Speaker, the Clarkston High School wrestling team has exemplified the values of teamwork, resilience, and excellence. I extend my sincere congratulations to the entire team, their coaches, and their families for an unforgettable season. Their achievements serve as an inspiration to their peers, their community, and the future generations of Clarkston wrestlers.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today to honor the exceptional service and lifelong dedication of Lieutenant Colonel Victor Roeske, USA (Ret.), a distinguished U.S. Army veteran and our March 2025 Veteran of the Month from Michigan's 9th Congressional District. Throughout his decades of military and civilian service, LTC Roeske has exemplifed duty, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to his country and community.

A Michigan native, LTC Roeske graduated from Rogers City High School in 1970 and earned an appointment to the prestigious United States Military Academy at West Point. Upon graduating in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science degree, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. He then completed both Airborne and Ranger training, setting the foundation for a distinguished military career.

Over the next 21 years, LTC Roeske held key leadership positions in the U.S. Army, serving with distinction across the globe. His service included assignments with the 82nd Airborne Division, the 2nd Infantry Division in Korea, and various leadership roles at Fort Bragg, Fort Sill, and Maxwell Air Force Base. He commanded troops, directed artillery operations, and contributed to national security through roles in the Defense Nuclear Agency's Cooperative Threat Reduction Program.

A dedicated scholar and educator, LTC Roeske earned two master's degrees in Operations Research and Statistics and Applied Mathematics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He later served as an Instructor and Assistant Professor at West Point and as a faculty member at the Naval Postgraduate School, shaping the next generation of military leaders through his expertise in mathematics and operational research.

After retiring in 1995, LTC Roeske's commitment to service remained, continuing to support military institutions and his community. He played a vital role in shaping future military leaders as a West Point Admissions Congressional District Coordinator and a member of multiple Service Academy Nomination Boards.

Today, LTC Roeske channels his leadership and experience into mentorship, faith-based outreach, and community support. He volunteers at the Spero Pregnancy Center in Port Huron, the Blue Water Area Rescue Mission, and serves as a Prison Fellowship Volunteer at both the Macomb and Thumb Correctional Facilities, offering guidance and hope to those in need. His unwavering dedication to uplifting others embodies the same values of duty, honor, and service that defined his distinguished military career.

Mr. Speaker, LTC Victor Roeske's life is a testament to the enduring spirit of service--both in uniform and in civilian life. His leadership on the battlefield, in the classroom, and within his community has left a lasting impact on those he has served and mentored. Today, we honor LTC Roeske for his exemplary military career and his continued dedication to uplifting others. His service to our Nation and his community stands as an inspiration to us all.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize the extraordinary bravery and selflessness of Sam Yerian, a young man whose quick thinking and decisive action saved three lives on June 12, 2024. At just 16 years old, Sam demonstrated remarkable courage, risking his own safety to help others in distress. Without his actions, a devastating tragedy would have occurred.

That day, Sam heard cries for help from Deer Lake and immediately sprang into action. Grabbing a life jacket, he jumped on his jet ski and raced to save two children drowning in the water nearly 200 yards from shore. Fighting against wind and waves, he pulled both children-- neither wearing life jackets--onto his jet ski, preventing disaster.

As he made his way to shore, the children pointed to their grandfather, who had jumped in to save them but was now exhausted and barely afloat. Realizing the urgency, Sam made a critical decision--he removed his own life jacket and gave it to the man, ensuring he had a chance at survival before bringing the children to safety.

Sam then returned for the grandfather, who was unresponsive in the water. With incredible strength, he pulled him onto the jet ski with assistance onshore, got him to waiting emergency responders. After several days in the hospital, he made a full recovery--an outcome that would not have been possible without Sam's courage.

Beyond this act of heroism, Sam is a dedicated student-athlete and servant leader. Now 17, he is a junior at Clarkston High School, competing on the Junior Varsity Golf Team and the Varsity Tennis Team, which reached the State Championship last year. Just a day after he saved 3 lives on Deer Lake, he traveled to Puerto Rico for a service trip to build homes for those in need, further demonstrating his commitment to helping others. He also mentors younger students as a Link Leader and volunteers with Xceptional Heroes, an organization supporting young adults with cognitive and intellectual disabilities, earning multiple Pride in the Pack nominations for his kindness and leadership.

Mr. Speaker, Sam Yerian's heroism on June 12, 2024, was a reflection of his character--brave, selfless, and committed to serving others. His actions prevented what could have been a terrible loss, and his example continues to inspire his community.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize and honor Thelma Castillo for her decade of service as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Blue Water Area Chamber of Commerce. Since 2014, Thelma has worked tirelessly to strengthen the Chamber's role as a champion for businesses in Michigan's Thumb region. Under her leadership, the Chamber experienced record growth, expanded its advocacy efforts, and enhanced its ability to support local businesses. Her impact has been profound, and her legacy will be felt for years to come.

A highly accomplished professional, Thelma brought over 18 years of chamber experience to her role, having previously served at the Detroit Regional Chamber, one of the largest and most influential chambers in the country. Her expertise in workforce initiatives, leadership development, economic advocacy, and operational excellence positioned her as a transformative leader in the Blue Water business community. Throughout her career, she secured over $15 million in grants, funding programs that supported business expansion, workforce training, and economic development. One of her most notable initiatives was ``Intern in Michigan,'' a statewide program designed to retain young professionals in the region through internship opportunities.

Thelma's leadership extends beyond the Chamber, as she served on numerous boards and organizations dedicated to economic growth, workforce development, and civic engagement. She was actively involved with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Institute for Organizational Management, the American Red Cross of Southeastern Michigan, the Legal Aid and Defender Association, the Hispanic Business Alliance, and the Workforce Innovations in Economic Development initiative. Her commitment to collaboration and strategic planning helped forge strong partnerships between businesses, educational institutions, and government entities.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Thelma is known for her passion, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the community. She is a devoted wife to Len Frisch, a Detroit firefighter, and a loving mother to her son, JJ Dominguez.

Mr. Speaker, Thelma Castillo's leadership, dedication, and vision have strengthened the Blue Water Area Chamber of Commerce and the broader business community. Her contributions have paved the way for continued economic growth and prosperity in the region. I thank her for her years of service and wish her all the best in this next chapter of her life.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today to honor the remarkable service and enduring dedication of Oswaldo ``Ozzie'' Ortiz, a proud American patriot and our February 2025 Veteran of the Month from Michigan's 9th Congressional District. With over 20 years of service, Ozzie demonstrated unwavering commitment to his country, answering the call to duty in both peacetime and war. His story is one of resilience, sacrifice, and continued devotion to our Nation.

Ozzie was born in Connecticut to parents from El Salvador and Puerto Rico and was raised in Auburn Hills, Michigan. In 1986, at just 17 years old, he enlisted in the United States Army as a tanker, completing Basic and Advanced Training before being stationed in Germany with the 2nd Armored Division, known as ``Hell on Wheels.'' He later served with the 1st Infantry at Fort Riley, Kansas, until his honorable discharge in 1990.

Ozzie's sense of duty has never wavered. Following the tragic events of September 11, 2001, he re-enlisted with the 1775th Military Police Battalion in Pontiac, Michigan. In 2003, he was deployed to Iraq as a tanker with the 30th Armored Brigade Combat Team, demonstrating extraordinary skill and bravery in combat operations. His service continued with the 144th Transportation Battalion in Washington State before he was deployed again to Iraq in 2008 with the 275th Heavy Transport Unit.

Upon returning, Ozzie played a critical role in training the next generation of soldiers at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, preparing troops for deployment to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Egypt as an Observer/ Controller/Trainer. He completed his military service with the 181st Brigade Support Battalion in 2015, when he was again honorably discharged.

Ozzie's service was recognized with numerous commendations, including the Combat Action Badge, Army Commendation Award, three Army Achievement Awards, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. His dedication to his country earned him the respect of his fellow soldiers and a lasting legacy of service.

Even after leaving the military, Ozzie continues to serve his community. Today, he is a Master Mechanic for BMW Motorrad Motorcycles in Plymouth, Michigan, where he provides critical service for law enforcement agencies, including the Michigan State Police, Macomb County Sheriff, Oakland County Sheriff, and several local police departments.

Beyond his career, Ozzie is committed to supporting his fellow veterans. Drawing from his experiences with both BMW and Harley- Davidson motorcycles, he is working to establish a nonprofit organization that will help veterans struggling with PTSD find healing and camaraderie through motorcycle building.

Mr. Speaker, Ozzie Ortiz's service to our Nation did not end with his military career--it continues today in his work, his mentorship, and his unwavering dedication to his fellow veterans. His story is one of courage, resilience, and an unbreakable commitment to those who have served.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today to honor an individual whose unwavering dedication, exceptional leadership, and commitment to public safety has made a profound impact on our community.

The epitome of a public servant, Sheriff Michael Bouchard was named 2025 Sheriff of the Year by the Major County Sheriffs of America.

Sheriff Bouchard is no stranger to this title, having received similar awards from the National Sheriffs' Association and the Michigan Sheriffs' Association.

Serving as sheriff since 1999, Sheriff Bouchard has set a standard that others strive to attain. Whether through community programs, outstanding crisis management, or simply being a resource to his team, Sheriff Bouchard has shown what it means to lead and lead with purpose and heart.

The 1.2 million Michiganders who live in Oakland County have a safer place to call home thanks to Sheriff Bouchard.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today with deep admiration and respect to honor Chief Michael F. Fronimos, a dedicated public servant who has devoted over 35 years to the firefighting profession across multiple states. As we celebrate his first year as Fire Chief of the Fort Gratiot Charter Township Fire Department, it is fitting to reflect on his transformative leadership, steadfast service, and remarkable contributions to public safety and community well-being.

Chief Fronimos's first year as Fire Chief has been nothing short of extraordinary. He has turned around the morale of the Department, increasing volunteer staffing by nearly 50 percent, and has implemented groundbreaking initiatives to ensure the safety and efficiency of his team. Under his leadership, the Department acquired new life safety equipment and overhauled an aging apparatus fleet to meet NFPA guidelines, drastically improving readiness and compliance. Chief Fronimos has also introduced a new incident management system and scene accountability program, setting a higher standard for firefighter safety and reducing risks of injuries and line-of-duty deaths.

His efforts to enhance training, promote mental health, and foster a positive work environment have created a culture of excellence within the Department. Beyond his internal impact, Chief Fronimos has strengthened Fort Gratiot's community risk reduction efforts and cultivated partnerships with countywide stakeholders, garnering recognition from federal agencies. His record-breaking open house drew unprecedented community engagement, showcasing his commitment to involving and inspiring the public.

Chief Fronimos's influence extends far beyond his Department. Twice elected as President of the National Information Officers Association, he has demonstrated exemplary leadership on a national level, sharing his expertise and advocating for transparency, communication, and collaboration in public safety.

Beyond his professional achievements, Chief Fronimos is a devoted father to his incredible young son, Mickey. His dedication to his family, his integrity, and his unwavering commitment to service are the foundations of his life.

Mr. Speaker, Chief Michael F. Fronimos's 35 years of service are a testament to his extraordinary dedication, innovation, and leadership. His first year as Fire Chief has profoundly transformed the Fort Gratiot Charter Township Fire Department and strengthened the community it serves.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize the extraordinary leadership and enduring commitment of Mayor Pauline Repp, who has served the City of Port Huron with distinction for 15 years as Mayor. Her tenure exemplifies the values of dedication, professionalism, and selfless service that define an exceptional public servant.

Mayor Repp's life story is as inspiring as her career. Born in England and raised across three countries--England, Canada, and the United States--she became a U.S. citizen in 1988. She began her professional journey in advertising, eventually serving as Assistant to the Publisher of the Times Herald. In 1977, she paused her career to focus on raising her family, but her drive to contribute to her community remained unwavering.

Her commitment to public service began in 1983 when she joined the City of Port Huron as Executive Secretary to the City Manager. Her intelligence and reliability earned her the respect of her colleagues, leading to her promotion as City Clerk in 1989, a position she held for nearly two decades. During her tenure, she achieved the prestigious designation of Master Municipal Clerk, underscoring her dedication to the people she serves.

In 2009, Mayor Repp's passion for improving her community led her to public office. After serving as Chair of the City's Charter Commission, she was elected Mayor of Port Huron and re-elected six more times. Her leadership has been transformative, steering the City toward progress while fostering a spirit of collaboration and unity,

Beyond her mayoral duties, Mayor Repp serves as Chair for the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments and contributes to its Executive, Budget, and Regional Review Committees. She holds prominent roles with the Michigan Association of Mayors, Lake Huron Medical Center Board, St. Clair County Child Abuse Neglect Council, and numerous other boards and organizations. Her work reflects an unwavering commitment to the welfare of her community.

Mayor Repp's influence extends beyond her professional achievements. She and her husband Greg have raised four children and enjoy the company of six grandchildren. Having lived in Port Huron for nearly 50 years, she embodies the spirit of the city she has tirelessly served.

Mr. Speaker, Mayor Pauline Repp's 15 years of exemplary service have left an indelible mark on the City of Port Huron. Her visionary leadership, dedication to public service, and commitment to her community stand as a testament to what local government can achieve. Let us honor Mayor Repp's remarkable legacy and express our deepest gratitude for her years of service.

Mr. Speaker, I rise to recognize the Holocaust Learning Experience, hosted by MorseLife Health System, an organization that serves many Jewish older adults and their families.

This year, International Holocaust Remembrance Day marks 80 years since the liberation of the Nazi death camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau, by Allied troops. On January 27, 2025, we remember and honor the 6 million Jewish men, women, and children murdered by the brutal Nazi regime.

We should never forget the atrocities of the Holocaust. At liberation, allies witnessed the devastation of human remains and the destruction of the human spirit. This is the day we also acknowledge the multigenerational impact of the horror and terror perpetrated against the Jewish people.

Globally, we are witnessing an alarming rise in antisemitism, and it is more important than ever to recognize and remember the critical lessons we all learned from the Holocaust. If we do not learn from our history, we are bound to repeat it. The Holocaust is a darkness and evil no one should ever want to see again. I am proud to recognize the Holocaust Learning Experience, which continues to deliver a fully developed curriculum for teachers to teach a hard but necessary lesson on this difficult period in history.

The purpose of the MorseLife Holocaust Learning Experience is to educate and transform generations to end antisemitism, prejudice, bias, and bigotry. This innovative Signature Educational Model is unique, action-oriented, and impactful. The Holocaust Learning Experience deploys and delivers grade-specific, cross curricula lessons from the Holocaust directly into 5th through 12th grade classrooms.

Students demonstrate a greater capacity to see themselves in the shoes of others and feel more comfortable explaining to their peers how hate led to the Holocaust. The most telling finding is that students report they will intervene amongst their peers when they witness hateful behavior toward others.

I wish to congratulate and encourage the Holocaust Learning Experience to continue changing lives of our Nation's young people. Each day, this initiative teaches students to stand up, not stand by. Thousands of students have been transformed by this learning experience, carrying forward the message that silence in the face of hate is unacceptable.

The Holocaust will never leave the conscience of humanity. It is on us to ensure the mantra, ``Never Again'' remains true.
